January 17 Last Day on the Job 
January 18 – January 21 Trip to Vermont with (who else) the Vermont Girls
January 21 – January 28 Trip Preparation! 

  • Also a road trip to Chappy Chaps to deliver clothes is under advisement
Asian Madness
January 28 – January 29 NYC to Hanoi via Bangkok

  • 19 hour trip.  I think I am going to buy some support socks for the trip.  Cause I am just as cool as your 85 year-old grandma. 
January 29 – February 1 Hanoi

  • Resting, recuperating, and acclimating are on the itinerary for our first few days in Vietnam.  We are also hoping not to arrive there and discover our hotel forgot to save our room!
February 1 – February 3 Sapa

  • We will get to the hill town just in time for the weekly market where tribes from all over the northern hill towns of Vietnam gather and sell their wares. 
February 4 – February 5   Halong Bay

  • We are visiting the bay, which is famous for its many caves, and sleeping on a boat.  Good thing we are planning on bringing loads of (legal) drugs to stave off motion sickness!
February 5 -February 8 Hoi An

  • An ancient town that is famous for its tailors.  At least when I have to go back to interviewing, I can look the part in $50 beautiful, hand-made suits!
February 8 Phuket

  • A big scheduling blunder on my part means that we will get into Phuket too late to catch the last ferry to Koh Phi Phi.  Poor us.
February 9 – February 13 Koh Phi Phi

  • We will be staying a luxurious resort on an island that was flattened by the 2005 tsunami.  Well, we hope it’s luxurious considering it’s the most expensive place we are staying in all of Asia!
February 13 – February 17 Bangkok

  • No underage prostitutes or shady Australians putting drugs in our backpacks for us, thank you.  We’ve seen that movie and it was clichéd.  We will be hitting the classier areas of Bangkok.
February 17 – February 24 Chiang Mai
February 25 Bangkok to NYC 
Back in the U.S. of A.
February 25 – March 15 NYC and Chapel Hill

  • Much unpacking and repacking of clothing.  And perhaps a Thai feast or two.

March 15 -  May 15 Sevilla, Spain

Back (Again) in the U.S. of A.
May 15 NYC  
May 17 -      May 19 Possible trip to Mississippi for wedding 
Late May Possible trip to the Southwest to visit assorted friends 
June Job Hunting.  Sigh.

    Don’t forget “June: Memorable Trip with Mom to Memphis, Mississippi, etc.” Glad to see Feb-March in NYC and Chapel Hill. Just to let you know, I’ll be in Honduras March 1-5. So schedule around. Can’t wait to read your next posting. Your website is so 21st-century career-chic. Enviously, Mom
